Rail Baltica – the largest infrastructure project in the Baltic region
After regaining independence, the Baltic States agreed that restoring direct rail connections with Western European countries is essential for regional security and economic development.
Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia made the decision to build a new European standard gauge railway (1435 mm) – Rail Baltica – which will connect the Baltic States with Western Europe.
Currently, five European Union countries are participating in the project: Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and indirectly, Finland.

FREE Rail programme – less dependency, greater reliability
Considering the need to ensure smooth, comprehensive integration into the European railway system, in 2023 we established the FREE Rail programme. The aim of this programme is to distance ourselves from unfriendly countries and to update the main operational processes of LTG, ensuring compliance with European Union requirements and best practices. The programme is intended to create a secure railway system protected from foreign interference.
