Generators donated by Lithuania to Ukraine successfully reached the country by rail

Generators donated by Lithuania to Ukraine successfully reached the country by rail. LTG Cargo, a freight transport company belonging to the LTG Group, together with its subsidiary in Poland, LTG Cargo Polska, organized the transport of a special cargo – powerful generators and their accessories – from Lithuania to Ukraine. The transfer of the generators was initiated by the Ministry of National Defense, and they are intended for use by the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

"Right now, the brave people of Ukraine are facing yet another challenge – freezing cold and darkness. Therefore, I sincerely thank everyone who ensured the transport of generators by rail from Lithuania to Ukraine. It is important for us that Ukrainians feel our support – Ukraine is not and will never be alone," said Minister of Transport Juras Taminskas.

Despite the challenges posed by the severe cold weather in Lithuania, this transport was completed in less than five days, from the initial request to delivery in Ukraine. The fact that a large amount of cargo, in this case generators and accessories, can be transported reliably and safely in one go is one of the biggest advantages of rail transport.

"We understand perfectly well that generators are becoming a vital aid to Ukraine, which is suffering from freezing temperatures. Lithuania has been and will remain a reliable partner to Ukraine in all areas. In 2026, Lithuania's support for Ukraine's defense needs will amount to at least 0.25% of the country's GDP – this is urgent assistance in the form of weapons, ammunition, military training, and other measures," says Minister of National Defense Robertas Kaunas.

According to Eglė Šimė, head of the rail freight company, the subsidiary LTG Cargo Polska, established in Poland, creates opportunities to carry out such shipments. LTG Cargo is a reliable partner – for almost a decade, the company has been ensuring the arrival of NATO allied forces from Western Europe to Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, and back to their permanent locations.

"We are proud to have contributed to helping Ukraine, whose energy and transport infrastructure is under constant attack. We took advantage of LTG Cargo's experience in Poland and in project transportation – we selected routes, ensured that rolling stock suitable for transporting such cargo was available, and worked closely with our partners in Poland and Ukraine," says LTG Cargo CEO E. Šimė.

In freezing temperatures, the cargo was loaded and specially secured in semi-wagons by a team of loading specialists from the railway infrastructure manager LTG Infra.

The freight transport company LTG Cargo is a member of the LTG Group, which is actively expanding its business in the West. The company provides freight transport, intermodal transport, logistics and forwarding, freight loading, locomotive and wagon repair, and wagon rental services in Lithuania and abroad.

LTG Cargo has established and manages the companies LTG Cargo Polska in Poland and LTG Cargo Ukraine in Ukraine. In developing greener freight transport by rail, the company brings together a team of 1,500 logistics professionals.
