LTG Link strengthens partnership with Jonava and Trakai district municipalities

LTG passenger transport company LTG Link is embarking on a new stage of cooperation with Jonava and Trakai district municipalities – a memorandum has been signed agreeing to create more convenient and sustainable travel options. Over the next five years, various measures are planned to improve travel convenience, ranging from schedule optimization to the integration of connections between different modes of public transport.

"I am delighted that the integrated ticket will finally be coming to Lithuania's regions. This will make it convenient to travel by both rail and municipal public transport, allowing people to quickly reach their workplaces, schools, or healthcare facilities and actively participate in cultural and social life. We are already preparing a travel planning and integrated ticket system at the national level, and such agreements between local governments and carriers will help to implement these solutions in practice and meet the daily needs of people," says Minister of Transport Juras Taminskas.

LTG Link, together with the municipalities of Trakai and Jonava districts, will seek to optimize train and urban public transport routes and schedules, creating even more convenient travel conditions not only for residents of these cities, but also for school and kindergarten groups. One of the common goals set out in the memorandum is to introduce a joint ticket in the municipalities of Trakai and Jonava so that passengers can travel conveniently by both train and local public transport. Currently, residents of four Lithuanian cities – Vilnius, Klaipėda, Panevėžys, and Šiauliai – use the joint ticket.

"This memorandum is an important step in strengthening sustainable and convenient transport in the Trakai district. By cooperating with LTG Link, we aim to make public transport a real and convenient alternative for both the daily journeys of our district's residents and visitors to the district. Integrated schedules, a joint ticket, and the integration of the Trakiečio kortelė card will further develop a smooth travel system that meets modern mobility needs and contributes to environmental sustainability," says Andrius Šatevičius, Mayor of Trakai District Municipality.

Last year, almost 6 million passengers traveled on LTG Link trains. Around 430,000 passengers chose the Vilnius–Trakai–Vilnius route, while 61,000 residents traveled to and from Jonava.

These flows are growing steadily, so better schedule compatibility and more convenient connections are important for both daily commuters and weekend travelers. The cooperation between LTG Link and the aforementioned municipalities will further strengthen this connection and offer residents more convenient travel options.

"Jonava is being developed as a 7-minute city, where we aim to ensure convenient and safe conditions for all traffic participants. At the same time, we understand that convenient intercity transport and sustainable travel are an integral part of modern, everyday mobility. Therefore, we are delighted to be working with LTG Link, which will allow us to better coordinate train and local public transport schedules, strengthen connections, and offer residents even more convenient and environmentally friendly travel alternatives," says Jonava Mayor Mindaugas Sinkevičius.

LTG Link is constantly looking for ways to improve sustainable mobility solutions throughout Lithuania. In 2025, the company signed a memorandum with Vilnius City Municipality on improving access and infrastructure, and with Kėdainiai District Municipality on cooperation in promoting public transport.
