The punctuality rate of LTG Link, the passenger transport company of the LTG Group, reached 97.2% last year, securing Lithuania's leadership in the European Union (EU). Only 2.8% of train delays in 2025 were caused by infrastructure works and unforeseen breakdowns.

"Hundreds of passengers travel on each train, so it is essential that they all reach their destination on time. This is particularly important in ensuring convenient connections between our major cities and regions. We hope that with the completion of the electrification of the main Vilnius-Klaipėda line and the significant renewal of the country's train fleet this year, punctuality indicators will continue to improve," says Minister of Transport Juras Taminskas.

Train punctuality is one of the most important performance indicators for passenger carriers. In 2025, LTG Link achieved a high result – more than 97% of trains arrived on time, which is well above the EU average of around 90% in 2025.

According to Kristina Meidė, head of LTG Link, high punctuality is one of the company's top priorities.

"This result is a testament to our team's consistent commitment to ensuring that train travel is not only comfortable but also reliable. Reaching their destination on time is the main expectation of passengers, so I am proud that we can ensure one of the highest punctuality rates in Europe," says LTG Link CEO K. Meidė.

A train is considered punctual if it arrives at its final destination on schedule or no more than 5 minutes late. Even carefully planned routes and train arrival times throughout the EU can be affected by factors such as infrastructure quality, technical failures, or extreme weather conditions. Last year in Lithuania, 2.8% of train delays were recorded due to electrification works, unforeseen rolling stock failures, and delays caused by other carriers.

It is planned that the completion of electrification projects in 2026 will allow speed restrictions to be reduced and the same high level of train punctuality to be maintained.
