Starting August 1, dynamic pricing will be introduced on one of the country’s most popular rail routes, Vilnius–Klaipėda–Vilnius. This route becomes the 12th in the “LTG Link” network where passengers who plan their trips in advance can purchase tickets at a lower price.

In 2025, “LTG Link” transported 5.9 million passengers, a significant portion of whom traveled on the Vilnius–Klaipėda–Vilnius route. Given the high popularity of this route, “LTG Link” will begin applying dynamic pricing on it starting August 1, which will allow passengers who plan their trips in advance to purchase tickets at more favorable prices.

“The Vilnius–Klaipėda–Vilnius route is one of the most popular, so we want to offer passengers more options for flexible travel. Dynamic pricing will allow passengers who plan their trips in advance to purchase tickets at more favorable prices, while also helping to distribute passenger flows more efficiently,” says Kristina Meidė, head of LTG Link.

Dynamic pricing is a pricing model in which ticket prices vary depending on the number of seats sold, train occupancy, time until departure, day of the week, train departure time, or seasonality. The earlier you plan your trip, the greater the likelihood of purchasing a ticket at a lower price—it can be up to 40 percent lower than the regular fare.

For example, the current standard price for a 3rd-class ticket on the Vilnius–Klaipėda–Vilnius route is 14.70 euros. If purchased in advance, the lowest price for a ticket can be 8.82 euros. Dynamic pricing applies to tickets in all classes.

These pricing principles are widely used in the aviation industry, where airfare prices fluctuate constantly as the flight date approaches. Some foreign rail operators, such as those in Sweden, also apply these principles.

Currently, dynamic pricing is already in effect on the following domestic routes: Vilnius–Kaunas–Vilnius, Kaunas–Marijampolė–Kaunas, Kaunas–Šiauliai–Kaunas, Vilnius–Trakai–Vilnius, Vilnius–Varėna (Marcinkonys)–Vilnius, Vilnius–Turmantas–Vilnius, and Kaunas–Kybartai–Kaunas. On international routes, tickets at more favorable prices are available for travel to Riga, Warsaw, Kraków, and Szczecin.
