From Vilnius to Kaunas – without stops: LTG Link express will start operating

From March 29, the express train of the LTG Group passenger transport company LTG Link will start operating on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Vilnius route. This route will be covered without intermediate stops, so the journey will be faster and more comfortable.

Last year, almost 6 million passengers chose LTG Link trains, and a third of them – as many as 2 million – traveled on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Vilnius route. Taking into account the strategic importance of this route and the growing passenger flow, the company will start operating an express route on this route, aiming to improve the quality of communication.

According to Kristina Meidė, the head of LTG Link, this route will give passengers even more arguments to choose the train instead of a car.

"The express between the two largest cities in the country is an additional step that helps turn the train into a convenient and reliable alternative to the car. This also strengthens our strategic ambition to become the backbone of the entire country's transportation system - a modern, sustainable solution adapted to people's daily mobility needs," says K. Meidė.

Currently, trains running on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Vilnius route stop at such intermediate stops as Lentvaris, Vievis, Kaišiadorys or Palemonas, the number of stops during one trip can reach from 3 to 15, and the duration of the trip usually varies from 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes. The train running on the express route will not stop at the intermediate stops, so the trip between the two largest cities will be faster and will last from 59 minutes.

Due to temporary infrastructure works and traffic interruptions, the travel time may vary, but the express route will remain the fastest way to travel between these cities by train.

Seat reservations will be installed in 1st and 2nd class carriages on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Vilnius express train, and passengers with time-limited tickets will be able to settle in special places marked with stickers. For the convenience of passengers, the food selection has also been expanded - more hearty dishes and warm drinks will be available during the trip. Also, dynamic pricing will be applied to tickets for this trip, so passengers will be able to purchase tickets cheaper by planning their trips in advance.

Ticket sales for this express will begin on March 13.
