The winners in two categories – station and passenger experience – were announced at an awards ceremony in Paris organized by the International Union of Railways (UIC). The LTG Link team, which presented the VIP lounge at Vilnius railway station, became a finalist in the competition.

The first Top Rail Tourist-Friendly Awards, or passenger experience awards, were designed to select European transport companies that are able to provide a sustainable, tourism-oriented travel experience. The competition categories include train fleets and passenger services for short and long distances, large and small stations, station lounge (VIP) areas, iconic railway lines, and innovative tourism products.

In this competition, LTG Link competed with other foreign carriers by presenting the Vilnius railway VIP lounge, which opened its doors to passengers less than a year ago. In this lounge, passengers can use private meeting spaces and comfortable work areas before or after their journey, and purchase snacks and drinks in the self-service area.

The LTG Link group was selected as one of the top three railway station passenger lounges. The winner was Italian carrier Trenitalia, which has created Italian-designed, eco-friendly innovation spaces at stations in Rome and Milan. Hungarian Railways (MAV) was also among the top three.

According to Kristina Meidė, head of LTG Link, this recognition is further proof that Lithuania can offer high-quality passenger service solutions that meet European standards.

"The VIP lounge at Vilnius Railway Station was created with the needs of modern passengers in mind – not only comfort, but also the opportunity to use their time productively while traveling. We are delighted that our decision to create a modern, functional, and aesthetically appealing space has received international recognition," says K. Meidė.

The VIP lounge at Vilnius Railway Station is open to all passengers. First-class ticket holders can use it free of charge, while others can enjoy comfort, privacy, and additional services before or after their journey for a small fee.
