Following the completion of the selection process, Mindaugas Ivanavičius has been appointed as the new Chief Rail Baltica Lithuania Officer of Rail Baltica Lithuania, a company within the LTG Group, effective 3 August. 

The former Chief Rail Baltica Lithuania Officer, Arenijus Jackus, will remain with LTG as Head of the Rail Baltica Programme and will continue serving as member of the Supervisory Board of RB Rail. 

Ivanavičius brings extensive experience in business development, organisational transformation, the delivery of large-scale strategic and nationally significant infrastructure projects, and risk management. Most recently, he led the synchronisation programme at Litgrid. Previously, he held senior leadership positions at Sweco Lithuania, where he was responsible for project management, engineering design, and business development. 

The new Chief Officers' primary objective will be to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of the Rail Baltica project. Today, Rail Baltica is regarded not only as one of Europe’s most important transport infrastructure projects but also as a vital component of security and military mobility in the Baltic region. 

“Construction is currently underway along a total of 114 kilometres of the Rail Baltica route, with nearly 9 kilometres of European-gauge railway track already laid. Production of the first turnouts will begin this autumn. Lithuania is currently the most advanced country in the implementation of the Rail Baltica project. The new CEO has been entrusted with ensuring that the project continues to progress according to schedule, while effectively managing its scope, risks, and financing,” said Arūnas Rumskas, Acting CEO of the LTG Group. 

According to Ivanavičius, he joins the project at a time when it is entering its most intensive implementation phase.“This is both a great responsibility and an opportunity to join a team delivering one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the history of the Baltic States. My priority is to ensure that work progresses smoothly, maintaining a high pace of implementation and achieving the project’s planned objectives.” 

In Lithuania, Rail Baltica has already transitioned from the design phase to intensive construction. Project management has been consolidated under LTG Infra, while construction activities on the Kaunas–Panevėžys section are progressing rapidly. At the same time, work is underway to establish a common infrastructure management model for the Baltic States and to strengthen the project’s role as strategic infrastructure for both civilian and military mobility. 

Rail Baltica is the largest railway infrastructure project in the history of the Baltic States, implemented in partnership with the European Union. The project will deliver an electrified European-standard railway line connecting Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia with Central and Western Europe. The new railway corridor will enhance regional economic integration, improve the resilience of the transport system, and provide more efficient civilian and military mobility.
